All of the baskets that Goddess I Am carries are Bolga Baskets.

They come from a town in northern Ghana called Bolgatanga. Here there is a community of basket weavers who have formed a cooperative and are now selling their baskets to the world. We are very careful to purchase our baskets directly from the weavers. We pay them the equivalent of three days work, as it takes 3 days to complete a bolga basket . They are now savvy enough to know how to deal with business people from all over the world, and now set fair prices for themselves.

This system of fai r trade is extremely important to us. To take advantage of these incredible
craftswomen would be terrible, and in less organized areas of Africa, it still happens. You can find Bolga
